Pastoral Support Team
The Pastoral Support Team at Halcyon Way consists of four key staff that together provide a range of support and guidance for families. The team are overseen by Lynne Rogers , Director of Pastoral Care . Examples of the types of things the team have supported families in include:
- Personal budget information
- Finding Nursery/child care provisions
- Access to specialist organisations and support groups
- Referrals for support from external agencies
- Accessing health services
- Drop ins – designed to support, sign post your concerns and to make friends
- Parental workshops
- Administration (form filling)
- Enrichment activities
- Support with attendance
- Adult learning
- Wellbeing
Meet The Team
Lynne Rogers
Director of Pastoral Care
My name is Lynne Rogers and I am the Director of Pastoral Care, as part of the Pastoral Team I am here to support you and your family with any barriers to accessing education or learning both internal and external to school. I work closely with teacher’s specialist support services both within school and externally to support children and their families reach the best possible outcomes.
I am also the named Designated Safeguarding Lead, I take lead responsibility within school for safeguarding and child protection including online safety. Kingfisher Special school have a whole school approach to safeguarding. I work closely with staff, raising awareness, managing referrals, offering guidance and support around safeguarding matters and providing ongoing training, alongside a multi-agency approach to safeguarding working in partnerships with the local authorities 3 partner agencies.
Safeguarding means protecting a child’s right to live in safety, free from abuse and neglect. It is about working together to support children we all share a responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, whether as a parent, carer, family member, friend, neighbour teacher or volunteer.
Natasha Bainbridge
Pastoral Support Lead
My name is Natasha Bainbridge, I am a new member of the Pastoral Team and will be working alongside Vicky Montgomery as a Personalised Planning Meeting Officer (PPM Officer).
Personalised Planning meetings are an important part of your child’s journey through Halcyon Way and Kingfisher, part of my role is to help facilitate PPM’s alongside families, class teachers and external agencies.
As part of the Pastoral Team I am also available to support families with signposting, administration and offer support and advice or just a listening ear!
I am really looking forward to meeting the new children and families and being part of yours and your child’s journey through school.
Abdul Shahid
Family Support Liaison Officer
My name is Abdul Shahid and I am a Family Support Liaison Officer. I work across both Kingfisher and Halcyon Way schools half a day a week and I primarily work with Bangla speaking families. I support families from transition into school through to transition into secondary school. My role includes interpreting for families at meetings, translating letters, helping to make appointments as well as liaising with other agencies such as Housing on behalf of the families.
Together we can support you in many ways, these may include:-
Listening to your concerns and offering help and advice for individuals and families
Supporting with signposting for parents/families to other services which are available in Oldham
Providing information and help accessing personal budgets
Helping with administration tasks i.e. form filling and support around this process
Helping to find child care/after school clubs
Signposting to accessible after school and weekend activities
Accessing specialist organisations and support groups
Accessing Health Services
Support with transition in to school
Arranging drop ins – designed to support you and for you to meet other families
Organising parent workshops
Or just offering a friendly ear!!
Shamin Akhtar
Family Support Liaison Officer
My name is Shamin Akhtar and I am a Family Support Liaison Officer. I work across both Kingfisher and Halcyon Way schools one and half days a week and I primarily work with Urdu and Punjabi speaking families. My role is to develop and support home school links and this may include interpreting at meetings, translating letters, helping families to make informed choices as well as encouraging families to become more involved in school life.
